Kentfield Commons Paint Sample Portfolio
An Architectural Committee volunteer has created a portfolio of paint samples to make it easier for fellow neighbors to see the colors in natural light and make their color selections.
If you'd like to borrow the portfolio, contact the Association Manager to get in touch with volunteer Roberta Landers. Please provide: your name, phone number, e-mail address, physical address, and two or three times when you will be available to meet.
Please handle the portfolio carefully. The samples are made of real paint. They are delicate and can chip easily. Please return the portfolio within 48 hours to give other neighbors a chance to use them.

Tips and Resources
Use Natural Light when Selecting Colors: Take the color deck or board outside. The differences in the colors become more pronounced than they appear inside.
Paint Color Samples: Buy quart sized samples of the colors you like and paint a few large squares on the back or side of your home up next to the trim. Try painting large squares of each color in both bright sunlight and in shadowy areas. Live with them for awhile looking at them at various times of the day to determine which color you like best.
Select the Right Paint Grade and Be Specific with your Painter: Homeowners can choose the grade of paint they wish to use. Paint is sorted into several grades according to the the titanium dioxide content. With paint you get what you pay for. More titanium dioxide = higher quality, higher grade, and higher price.
Unless you specify the grade, painters will often use “Contractor Grade” paint which is one of the cheaper, lower grades of paint. Some painters may even substitute a cheaper brand of paint by "color matching" the color you requested into another brand's formula. If you'd like a high grade paint, its best to supply the paint yourself, or specify not only the paint color and finish, but also the exact brand and grade you want.
Benjamin Moore's Regal and Aura Paints are recommended for the best coverage, sheen, saturation, color retention, and longevity.
Discount for Kentfield Commons: ARC volunteers have secured a discount for Kentfield Commons at Grey's Paint on Woodside Road. Mr. Gray has agreed to give us a 10% discount on their exterior paint. Mention that you are a Kentfield Commons homeowner and tell the sales associate that you qualify for customer #3 pricing.
Give your Painters Written Instructions to Minimize Mistakes: The House and Door Color Approval Form includes all of the information about the Paint Colors, Finishes, and exactly which areas of the home should be painted the House Color and which areas must be painted the Trim Color. We recommend providing a copy of this form to your painters. The only information that is not included on the form is your choice of Paint Grade.
